A helical architecture

The Capítulo Island Resort is intended to be a leisure area and bring on-land support for boat-owners in the Angra dos Reis region.

With this project, we aimed to interfere as little as possible in the existing flora.

An arched pier with a twenty-vessel capacity up to 80 feet leads to the reception hall. This pier has the infrastructure required to collect and treat the waste found in the vessels, and to sanitize them.

Starting from the reception area, a series of paths permeate the island and its exuberant flora, leading people to a Club House with a restaurant/bar and a pool, a complete SPA, a wine cellar and 10 bungalows in which to spend the night.

With this project, we aimed to interfere as little as possible in the existing flora; to attain this goal, we chose to spread small constructions around the whole island, avoiding a single big building.

We used glulam in almost all the structures, a material that adapts to the organic shapes inspired by marine motifs and is also highly resistant to the salt air.
